چکیده

The management of power systems has become more difficult than earlier because power systems are operated closer to security limits, environmental constraints restrict the expansion of transmission network, the need for long distance power transfer has increased and fewer operators are engaged in the supervision and operation of power systems. Voltage stability has become a major concern in many power systems and many blackouts have been reported, where the reason has been voltage instability. This paper presents a novel line stability index (NLSI) referred to a line initiated from the voltage quadratic equation at the sending and resaving end of a representation of a 2-bus system. The line index in the interconnected system in which the value that is closed to one indicates that the line has reached its instability limit which could cause sudden voltage drop to the corresponding bus caused by the active and reactive load variation. The proposed index consider both active and reactive power to investigate the voltage stability because this index provides more precise results than those which consider only reactive power. To indicate the ability of proposed index, NEW ENGLAND 30 bus is utilized and simulation results show good conformity with the other stability index that proposed in literature. Key-Words: Voltage stability index, Maximum permissible load, NLSI factor.

A Novel Index for Online Voltage Stability Assessment Based on Correlation Characteristic of Voltage Profiles

Abstract: Voltage instability is a major threat for security of power systems. Preserving voltage security margin at a certain limit is a vital requirement for today’s power systems. Assessment of voltage security margin is a challenging task demanding sophisticated indices. In this paper, for the purpose of on line voltage security assessment a new index based on the correlation characteristic...

A Fast Voltage Collapse Detection and Prevention Based on Wide Area Monitoring and Control

Voltage stability is one of the most important factors in maintaining reliable operation of power systems. When a disturbance occurs in the power system, it usually causes instabilities and sometimes leads to voltage collapse (VC). To avoid such problems, a novel approach called Vector Analysis (VA) is proposed that exploits a new instability detection index to provide wide area voltage stabili...

A Nonlinear Voltage Stability Index based on Vector Analysis Method and Measurements of Active and Reactive Powers of Power System

This paper proposes a new voltage stability assessment method based on vector analysis method. This index extraction process relies on measurements of active and reactive powers from connected buses to the generator buses. Therefore, a limit for beginning of voltage collapse is determined based on the maximum power transfer theory. On the other hand, when the system requires load shedding, a ne...
